Nightwood is a 1936 novel by Djuna Barnes that was first published in London by Faber and Faber. It is one of the early prominent novels to portray explicit homosexuality between women, and as such can be considered lesbian literature. It is also notable for its intense, gothic prose style.
Nightwood tells the stories of the love-lives of a group of Americans and Europeans in Paris in the 1920s - an exotic, night-time underworld, eccentric, seedy and beautiful.
